THE OLD MEETS THE NEW

Yesterday began a week that has not been a problem very often in my life. A collision of the old and new. I grew up in Los Angeles and rooted for the Kings until the Coyotes moved to Phoenix from Canada. I have always tried to root, root, root for the home team. And when the Dodgers played the d-Backs it was easy to root for the d-Backs because the dodgers were owned by a terrible owner and they signed Manny Ramirez. And when it comes to basketball, as long as there is Kobe in a Lakers uniform, I can root for any other team, besides the team that Lebron plays on.

Now the Kings and Coyotes are playing to see who plays in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Kings have been there only one time and the Coyotes, well, this is as far as they have been…..ever. After the first game, it looks like I will not have to worry about this very long. The Kings sure looked like the more determined team in game one.

This is a good problem to have. Having two teams to root for. I will enjoy it for how long it lasts. Go Kings, on to the Cup. Go, Yotes, BEAT LA.

I am a man in continual transition. I am married to a wonderful woman. Between us, we have seven children. One of my full time jobs is establishing and repairing and reestablishing relationships with all of them. I am retired from ASU. I am looking forward to what God has in store for me next. I have found that direction, strength, forgiveness and redemption are so important and they only can come from God through Jesus Christ covered by His Spirit.
